* In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Unity Warriors defeated the 4th-seeded Kamsack Spartans 59-50. Coach Aaron Melnyk told the Unity-Wilkie Press Herald that “it’s always hard coming off a big loss, especially when you know you could have gotten the win on Friday night against a team that we had beaten in the past. That being said, I was really impressed with how the team was able to let that go and rebounded for Saturday morning to compete in the bronze medal game. We had a very short turnaround time to rest and formulate a new plan to finish our season with a win.” The score was knotted at 26 at the half. Melnyk said, “Once the girls settled into the game, they left it all out on the court.” Dailyn Wagner paced the Warriors with 19. Now I’m coaching my daughter 30 years later and we made it.” St. Walburg was bumped up to 3A competition during the campaign after combining with Paradise Hill to form a team at the start of the season. “They came together from two different communities, and they gelled perfectly,” Larre said. “They became like family over the season, I’m very proud of them.”
