In the bronze medal match, Alberta defeated Nova Scotia 80-56 as Dominyc ‘Pookie Bear’ Coward, a 6-4 forward from Airdrie, scored 13, grabbed 9 boards and was chosen player of the game. “When my mom said good-bye to me (for Team Alberta training camp), she said: ‘I love you Pookie Bear’ (and teammates heard it). I got used to it after a while.” Coward was elated to be chosen player of the game. “It means a lot. I haven’t won anything like that big before.” Mangisto Arop led Alberta with 21. Taylor Norum grabbed 9 boards. Jeremy Dunn led Nova Scotia with 12 and was chosen player of the game, while David Howe nabbed 5 boards. Alberta led 36-19 at the half and were never threatened. “I was just really happy the kids held on. I could tell they were exhausted,” said Alberta coach Ryan Dunkley. “I told them to dig deep; this could be the last time together probably forever.” Nova Scotia (coached by Scott James) also included Ellis Ffrench, Bryson Johnson.
In the final, Ontario crushed British Columbia 73-52 as Alwayne Digby scored 19, Alex Arthur was chosen player of the game and Jeremy Trader nabbed 10 boards. Ty Nurse scored 24 and nabbed 5 boards for British Columbia. Tallon Milne also grabbed 5 boards, while Demetri Harris was chosen player of the game.
