When I was asked to take charge of the Quebec U17 team, I accepted on condition that it was on a two-year plan. … Usually Quebec teams are only centralized during the summer. We decided to work over 12 months. Fifteen games in blocks of five, emphasis on different points each time. And it paid off.” Lacasse said he told his troops after defeating Ontario in pool play that “it was a victory but not an accomplishment. They had not played well despite a favorable result. They understood something more.” After the third quarter, Lacasse said he told them “they had to start to force themselves because there would not be a fifth.” Sarah Te-Biasu caught fire in the fourth. “My team trusted me and it gave me energy again,” Te-Biasu said. “We woke up, we spoke, we remained united.
