A separate “intercollegiate” competition continues to be held between Prince of Wales and St. Dunstan’s, who both also play in a senior Island league with four other teams, such as the Lepage Trotters, Charlottetown YMCA. They also played an annual intercollegiate series with Halifax’ King’s College.

        In January, an Island high school league is formed. It consists of Souris, Summerside, Queen Square, Queen Charlotte and Prince of Wales (seconds).

        In the provincial final, Prince of Wales defeated Summerside 55-42; 53-59 (Total: 108-101). The Prince of Wales team was the school’s “seconds,” i.e., high school squad.

        In game one, Prince of Wales clipped Summerside 59-53 as Stan MacPherson scored 14, Ralph Russell 13, David Rodd 6, David Mills 6, Paddy Murphy 4, Dave McFarlane 4, Ralph Beaton 4 and Al Brady 2, while L Gallant was scoreless. Mike Scott led Summerside with 20. Dick Coston added 14, Don McEachern 11, Eddie Boates 8, Walter Bethel 4 and Eric Gemmel 2, while Winston Smith, Earle Campbell, Joe Dunsford and Ron McFarlane were scoreless.

        In game two, Summerside edged Prince of Wales 59-53 but lost the total-point series 108-101.
