The Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish captured its second consecutive crown as it breezed through an undefeated season, winning its 42nd straight game in the final over West Kings Rural.
In the semis, the Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish took a 26-13 lead at the half and routed Lyons Brook West Pictou District 67-33 as Jane White scored 34. West Pictou was led by Jean Smith’s 11 points.
In the other semi, West Kings Rural pasted the Sydney Academy Wildcats 66-19 after taking a 22-12 lead at the half. Linda Stone led West Kings with 23 points. Anna Erickson added 22. Sydney Academy was paced by Ruth Evely’s 11 points.
In the final, the Halifax St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish took a 17-11 at the quarter and then expanded its margin steadily as it annihilated West Kings Rural 70-39. Debby Carmichael led St. Patrick’s with 30 points. Jane White added 19, Jean Fahie 19 and Helen Gallagher 2. West Kings was paced by Cynthia Mann 24, Anna Erickson 7, Linda Stone 2, and Gwen Avery 2.
