The 4th-seeded Hartland Huskies dusted the 5th-seeded Grand Falls John Caldwell Golden Knights 89-44 as Everett scored 20, LePage 16, Crabbe 16, Craftcheck 9, Hatfield 9, Rideout 8, Wallace 4, Hallett 3, Hawkes 2 and Cook 2. The 2nd-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers clocked the 7th-seeded Chipman Forrest Crusaders 70-24 as Sondborg scored 22, Harmer 16, Kelly 13, Taylor 6, Price 3, J Harvey 3, Hoar 2, A Harvey 2, Chambers 2 and Sprague 2. Karen Vincent led the Crusaders with 8. Michelle Cole added 7, Kim Vincent 4, Stephanie Barton 4 and Darlene Hargrove 1, while Tracy Bishop and Tracy Trenholm were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Stanley Blue Devils whipped the 6th-seeded Campobello Island Consolidated Vikings 92-52 as O’Hara scored 28, Hurley 19, Douglas 15, Merrill 9, O’Sullivan 7, Bourque 4, Hay 4, Barret 2, Edmondson 2 and Spilman 2. Kim Savage led the Vikings with 22. Bonny Barker added 9, Gail Firlotte 7, Betty Brown 6, Barbie Barker 4, Jeannie Getchell 2 and Maureen Newman 2.
In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Petitcodiac Regional Panthers defeated the 3rd-seeded Stanley Blue Devils 5-145 as Sundborg scored 18, Taylor 16, Price 7, Kelly 4, Hoar 4 and Harvey 2. Jennifer Hurley led the Blue Devils with 16. O’Hara added 14, O’Sullivan 4, Douglas 4, Bourque 3, Merrill 2 and Jill Hurley 2.
In the other semi, the top-seeded Canterbury Celtics dispatched the 4th-seeded Hartland Huskies 52-42 as Chase scored 13, Graham 11, Broczkowski 10, Heppell 8, Barry 5 and Horsman 5. LePage led the Huskies with 13. Crabbe added 10, Hatfield 8, Craftcheck 6, Everett 2, Cook 2 and Wallard 1.
In the final, the top-seeded Canterbury Celtics captured their second consecutive title by clipping the 2nd-seeded Petitcodiac Pantherines 41-32 as Graham scored 10, Heppell 10, Horsman 7, Chase 6, Berry 5 and Broczkowski 3. The Celtics hit 6-11 from the line. Celtics coach Bob English told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “every time (Pantherine Leah) Sondberg got the ball in our offensive end we tried to double-team her. But she’s a pretty good athlete and she’s hard to cover. … Both teams were nervous. We come from gyms one third this size. But in the second half, we were getting the ball inside and that was a key point for us. … We wanted to slow it down after we got the 10-point lead (in the second half).” Sondberg paced the Pantherines with 22. Sprague added 9, Hoar 2, Plume 2 and Price 1. The Pantherines led 20-18 at the half and hit 4-9 from the line.
