The old A, B & C tournaments are abolished and replaced with three new classifications. R for regional and L and M for Large and Medium schools. Schools were allowed to elect to a higher division.
In the quarterfinals, held in Woodstock, the Bath Fighting Bees received a bye.
The McAdam Warriors clipped the Dalhousie Regional Condors 57-47 as May scored 42, Blair 22 and Short 4. J Valdron led the Condors with 22. Gail Pilon added 15 and Cameron 10, while Blanchard, Hanley, Caughlin, Kingston, Foran, Barron, Marie Valdron, Sturgeon, Nolan, Christie and McCabe were scoreless.
The Saint John Simonds Seabees edged the host Woodstock Wildcats 38-36 as Ricketts scored 14, Cunningham 12, Williams 6, Gustavernsen 3 and Waugh 3. Elizabeth Montgomery led The Wildcats with 19. Graham added 9 and Kelly 8, while Haines, Mooers, Kearney, Mary Boyer, Leech, Gray, Jewett, Wilcox, Wort and Smith were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the St. Stephen Spartans dusted the Plaster Rock Tobique Valley Panthers 36-20 as Dougherty scored 14, Russell 12, Eastman 5 and Bowes 5. Robertson paced the Panthers with 17. Mckeller added 3, while Ashworth, Peery, E Reed, Schofield, Colbourne, Harrison, C Reed, Marsten, Porter and Davidson were scoreless.
In the semis, Dorothy May scored 45 as the McAdam Warriors torched the Bath Fighting Bees 70-24. Blair added 14 and Short 11. Tompkins paced the Fighting Bees with 16. Guest added 6, Giberson 1 and Nugent 1.
In the other semi, the St. Stephen Spartans edged the Saint John Simonds Seabees 20-18 as Russell scored 8, Eastman 8 and Dougherty 4. Cunningham paced the Seabees with 12. Williams added 3 and Ricketts 3.
In the final, the McAdam Warriors defeated the St. Stephen Spartans 46-33 as May scored 26, Short 16, Blair 2 and Mills 2. Russell led the Seabees with 13. Dougherty added 12 and Eastman 8.
