The tournament opened with controversy as Fredericton High failed to arrive for a game with the Dalhousie Condors. Joanne Thurrott, tournament manager, ruled the game a forfeit but Fredericton claims that the provincial transport ministry had declared the roads unfit for travel and had refused to transport the team. Fredericton appealed to the NBIAA which ordered the game to go ahead. Fredericton won.

In the final, the St. Stephen Spartans defeated the Moncton Purple Knights 59-45 as Rose Ann Johnson scored 36. With the win, the Spartans extended their winning streak against high school competition to 90 games over previous three years. St. Stephen finished (32-1) on season.
