       In the other BC semi, the Victoria College defeated the Metropolitan Rebels x-x; 78-18 (Total: by 95). …………………………………………………… In game two, Victoria pounded the Rebels 78-18 as Marilyn rice scored 24, Sylvia Campbell 17, Sue Kelly 9, Clair Johnson 9, Mary Pearson 8, Gail Bonner 4, Marie Fishleigh 4 and Bernie Clemenhaga 3, while Nan Elliott and Diane Wilson were scoreless. Helen Paindon led the Rebels with 8. Lorraine Hyne added 5, Charlotte Forrest 4 and Chick Buie 1, while Hilary Bitnett, Pat Lebold and Donna McPherson were scoreless.

       In the Eastern finals, the Hamilton Quigley Kittens defeated St. Lambert CSA 59-19; 59-32 (Total: 118-51).

In the national finals, the Vancouver Mount Pleasant Legion Kittens swept the Hamilton Kittens 65-32; 56-40; 54-51 (3g-0).

In game one, Vancouver led 39-19 at the half and outscored the Kittens 20-8 in last quarter to seal an easy 65-32 victory. Centre Judy Hilliard led Vancouver with 17. Sharon Frederick added 13 and Cheryl McIntosh 11. Sharon Kerr paced Hamilton with 11. Jessie Armes added 6 and Laraine Bielak 6.

In game two, Vancouver led by 8 at the half and when Kitten centre Pat Macdonald fouled out in the fourth, the game was essentially over as Mount Pleasant began dominating the boards and romped to a 56-40 victory. Vancouver shot 24-32 from the line and was paced by Judy Hilliard and Cheryl MacIntosh with 19 apiece. Janice Robinson added 6, Marilyn Stothers 4, Sharon Frederick 3, Deanna Morris 3 and Jeannette Bayly 2. For Kittens, Sharon Kerr and Pat Macdonald each had 11. Linda Petch added 8, Jessie Armes 4, Laraine Bielak 3, Charlotte Gauld 2 and Norma Estey 1.

       In game three, Vancouver was in control all the way during a 56-51 win. Judy Hilliard led Mount Pleasant with 18. Sharon Frederick added 11, Cheryl McIntosh 9, Janice Robinson 5, Sue Ellis 4, Marily Stothers 4, Liz Craig 4 and Dianna Morris 2. Linda Petch scored 17 for Kittens, as did series MVP Pat MacDonald. Laraine Bielak added 7, Sharon Kerr 5, Jessie Armes 2, Charlotte Gauld 2 and Diane Hedley 1. At the conclusion of series, Vancouver coach Glen Robertson announced that the team would shift to Senior A for following year. “It would be foolish of us to stay in the junior ranks. The girls have proved twice that they are the best juniors in the country and they deserve a crack at the senior A title while they’re still young.” Kittens coach Deas said height was the difference. “And the fact that we’ve got no good competition back home.” Vancouver led 32-25 at the half.
