In the quarterfinals held in St. Stephen, the host St. Stephen Spartans clubbed the Dalhousie Condors 100-44 as Parker scored 17, Dunn 15, Walker 11 and Speedy 10. Keith Pettigrew led the Condors with 22.
The Woodstock Thunder defeated the Sackville Tantramar Titans 62-56 as Lenehan scored 20, Harris 19 and Mclean 19. Andrew Olscamp led the Titans with 18. Derrick Fury added 14, Adam Hicks 13 and Matt Wheeler 10.
In the quarterfinals held in Campbellton, the host Sugarloaf Bruins whipped the St. George Fundy Mariners 65-44 as Gionet scored 23, Gerrard 13 and Hutchinson 11. The Bruins led 36-23 at the half. Allan Kentwell led the Mariners with 13. Stanley Harmon added 12.
In the last quarterfinal, the Sussex Sonics clipped the Lawrenceville-Bristol Carleton North Stas 87-70 as Keith scored 28 and Gilbert 17. Andy Derier led the Stars with 19. Chad Beckers added 19. The Stars also included Wendell Boyd.
In the semis, the Sussex Sonics defeated the Campbellton Sugarloaf Bruins 65-57 as Cooling scored 27, Gilbert 16 and McNamara 10. Gionet led the Bruins with 26. Gerrard added 17.
In the other semi, the St. Stephen Spartans dusted the Woodstock Thunder 61-47 as Eldridge scored 18, Dunn 11, Parker 8 and Justason 8. Mclean led the Thunder with 12. Harris added 7 and Cole 7.
In the final, the Sussex Sonics spanked the St. Stephen Spartans 72-57 as Morris scored 18, Cooling 17, Gilbert 16, Turner 15 and Keith 6, while nabbing 11 boards. Sonics coach Byron Barton told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “defensively, we just picked it up … We took (6-10 post Tim) Zinck right out of the game altogether. We’d been working hard in practice on stopping their inside game. … All year, our starting line-up’s averaged double digits. No one’s a super star on this team. It’s a team effort.” Parker led the Spartans with 30. Dunn added 17?, Zinck 5 and Walker 5. Spartans coach Don Walker said “Tim wasn’t a factor at all. … We knew they were going to be double-teaming him. We had some counters but we couldn’t execute them.” The Spartans led 32-31 at the half.
