In the final, the 2nd-seeded St. Stephen Spartans edged the top-seeded Woodstock Thunder 76-73 as player of the game Dunn scored 16, Babcock 15 and Searles 13. The Spartans hit 6-13 from the line. The Spartans trailed 73-70 with 46 seconds to play. But Dunn hit a bucket and then pilfered the ball at midcourt and fed White for the winning layup. Spartans coach Don Walker told the Saint John Telegraph-Journal that “Dallas (Dunn) is the heart and would of our team really when it comes down to both ends of the floor. … Even though we were down three points and there was minimal time of the clock, I knew that we still had a good opportunity if we could get the ball inside like we wanted to. I knew there was still time left. We put a little pressure on Woodstock, something we don’t normally do and hey, we created a turnover out of it. And wow, what a great shot that Randy White made to end the game as well.” Wetmore led the Thunder with 34. Lawson added 12 and Taylor 11. The Thunder hit 7-10 from the line. Thunder coach Brian Boyd said “in the first five minutes of the game, we didn’t go out there and assert ourselves like we have throughout the season and consequently, they got the momentum. Give them credit. They kept the momentum for the rest of the 35 minutes. … Our offence never really got into the flow at any point in time throughout the game and I’ve got to give St. Stephen credit. They didn’t let us get in the flow. That’s the way it goes, you win some, you lose some.”
