In the quarterfinals, held in Centreville, the Petitcodiac Regional Panthers clipped the Stanley Regional Blue Devils 54-44 as Pollock scored 20, Harvey 12, McPhee 11, Brown 5, Drury 4 and McLeod 2. Byron Stilman led the Blue Devils with 32. P O’Hara added 3, Good 3, Bobby O’Hara 2 and Clarkson 2, while Forman, Ryan and MacFarlane were scoreless.
The Centreville Regional Cougars stomped Black’s Harbour 79-35 as DeMerchant scored 30, Savage 15, Thomas 12, Paget 5, Lovely 5, Longstaff 4, White 4, Ted Hartly 2 and Price 2. Zolton Szobo led Black’s Harbour with 15. Bill Price added 8, Pearce 7, McLean 3, C Hawkins 2 and Thompson 1, while Paul, Dugas, O Hawkins and Moses were scoreless.
Dorchester dispatched Bathurst LeBlanc 40-32 as Cormier scored 19, Black 12, Snowden 5 and Rutter 4. Phil LePage led LeBlanc with 15. Denis Benoit added 12, Dave Doucet 3 and Dave Sisk 2, while A Doucet and Laurent Levesque were scoreless.
In the last quarterfinal, the Bath Regional Fighting Bees clubbed the McAdam Warriors 59-42 as Hargrove scored 20, Brennan 15, O’Neill 7, Gould 7 and Corcoran 6. Mersereau led the Warriors with 18. Roberts added 8, Nason 5, Thorburn 5, P Moffett 2, Woodcock 2 and Starr 2, while T Moffett was scoreless.
In the semis, the Centreville Regional Cougars mauled the Petitcodiac Regional Panthers 73-44 as DeMerchant scored 37, Savage 9, Thomas 9, Hartly 6, Paget 4, White 2, Lovely 2 and Mclean 2. Drury led the Panthers with 12. McPhee added 10, Pollock 8, Harvey 8, Brown 4 and McLeod 2.
In the other semi, the Bath Regional Fighting Bees torched Dorchester 59-33 as Hargrove scored 27, Brennan 11, Corcoran 5, O’Neill 4, B Dingee 3, Gould 3, A Dingee 3, Davenport 2 and Wright 1. Cormier led Dorchester with 11. Snowden added 8, Hunter 5, Black 5 and Rutter 4.
In the bronze medal match, Dorchester spanked the Petitcodiac Reginal Panthers 59-45 as Cormier scored 25, Black 21, Snowdon 7, Gillespie 4 and Rutter 2. Ron Harvey paced the Panthers (coach Ronnie Hooper) with 19. Mike O’Blenis added 12, Peter Drury 4, Brown 3, Roger McPhee 2, Taylor 2, Keith 2 and McLeod 1, while Danny Pollock and Crandle were scoreless.
In the final, the Centreville Cougars defeated the Bath Regional Fighting Bees 47-43 in overtime. The Cougars captured the first boys and girls double at the M level. Both units were coached by Frank Cluff Jr. Savage led the Cougars with 16. Hartly added 14, White 6, DeMerchant 5, Thomas 4 and Paget 2. Hargrove led the Fighting Bees with 12. Corcoran added 11, Dingee 9, O’Neill 8 and Brennan 3. Hargrove hit a 30-footer with 15 seconds to play to force overtime with the score knotted at 43.
