        In the semis, the Wynyard Bears torched the Watrous Wildcats as Natasha Bzdel scored 20, include 4 treys. Bzdel told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “we were pretty sloppy at the start but we calmed down.” Lindsay Harvey added 17, Lorie Bzdel 12, Alicia Stolarchuk 3, Laura Dunville 3 and Amber Harvey 2. Serena McIver paced the Wildcats with 14. Barb Brigadear added 7, Carolyn Brigadear 6, Marsha Miettinen 4, Julie Campbell 4, Erin Lucas 2 and Raegan Eliasson 2.

        In the other semi, the Outlook Blues nipped the Gull Lake Lions 58-57 as Katrina Spence scored 28, Tenna Clark 15, Nicole Brown 7, Afton Stephenson 4 and Kari Brown 4. The Blues trailed by as many as 23 but took the lead when Brown, a grade nine student, hit a pair from the line with 1:12 to play. No one scored thereafter. Brown told the Regina Leader-Post that “I was really nervous. I just had to concentrated.” Blues coach Lyle McKellar said “I told the kids not to scare me like that again. … I’ve been telling the kids all along that this is hoopla of Hoopla.” The Lions used a 14-0 run to take a 41-26 lead at the half. Outlook opened the second half with 12-2 run. McKellar said “we’ve been down before this year and come back. I don’t know if we’ve come back from that far. I told the kids at half-time there wasn’t any pressure on us (because no one expected us to win).” Lions coach Kevin Brawn said “they made some key shots down the stretch and we didn’t. They started chipping away and their shots started falling. We missed a few easy shots. It was the opposite of the first half, when we had everything going for us.” Heather Collier led the Lions with 14. Jamie Gibson added 14, Shawna Crothers 11, Rebecca Gedney 8, Annette Peterson 4, Lindsay Logan 4 and Amanda Peterson 2.

        In the bronze medal match, the Gull Lake Lions clipped the Watrous Wildcats 63-53 as Heather Collier scored 25, Shawna Crothers 15, Lindsay Logan 6, Jamie Gibson 6, Annette Peterson 5, Rebecca Gedny 4 and Amber Lapashinoff 2. Serina McIver led the Wildcats with 19. Barb Brigadear added 16, Marsha Miettinen 12, Julie Campbell 7 and Erin Lucas 1. The Wildcats also included Velvet Furger.

        In the final, the Outlook Blues nipped the Wynyard Bears 53-52 as Afton Stephenson hit two insurance free throws with 11 seconds to play. Stephenson told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “this was so intense. Wynyard is so well-conditioned. It was tough all throughout.” Tenna Clark led the Blues with 13. Nicole Brown added 12, Afton Stephenson 10, Katrina Spence 6, Meagan Peardon 3, Jolene Adair 3, Stefanie Tannis 2, Kari Brown 2 and Arlie Ogilvie 2. Lori Bzdel led the Bears with 16.
