Wiggins told the Regina Leader-Post that Blues coach Bill Simpson is “pretty low-key. He never puts pressure on his players to succeed. He just tells us it’s ours and we should go for it. But there’s no pressure. We just go in into every game thinking we should win. We’re confident, as opposed to cocky.” Simpson, who won provincial silver as a rookie coach in 1979, captured his 5th crown (A boys in 1980, 1984 and 1987, and AA boys in 1993 and 1995), said “they played like they can play. They were surgical. They had a poor start but the kids didn’t panic at all. They just put their heads down and did it.” Wiggins iced it with his third consecutive trey, despite having sprained his right index finger. Wiggins said “I could control the ball better with my finger taped up. It helped my shooting too. We didn’t make it to Hoopla last year. It’s sweet to get here and win.” Hunt told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we started slow and (LCBI) started up fast but we had confidence in ourselves. The press helped us because we got lots of easy turnovers off it. When you see four points in a row without them crossing halfcourt, it really hurts their team.”
