Humphrey Blues earned a berth at provincials by clipping the Waldheim Raiders 51-41. …………………………………………………… In the repchage, the St. Walburg Saints eliminated the Asquith Athletics 59-44. …………………………………………………… In the second qualifier, the St. Walburg Saints edged the Waldheim Raiders 57-55.

        In the South playoffs: …………………………………………………… In the opening round, Rossburn defeated Weyburn Western Christian 58-57.

        In the provincial semis, Lebret Qu’Appelle Indian Residential dispatched the Kinistino R.J. Humphrey Blues 58-49 as Barry Cappo scored 23 and Fabian Alexson 15. Rodney Frieson led the Blues with 21. Adam Svenkoson added 20.

        In the other semi, the Eastend Echoes whipped the St. Walburg Saints 69-55 as Robbie Kinch scored 21 and Darrel Gebhart 16. Kevin Imhoff led the Saints with 23. Greg Fiest added 20.

        In the bronze medal match, the Kinistino R.J. Humphrey Blues pounded the St. Walburg Saints 60-38 as Rodney Frieson scored 30 and Sean Beattie 11. Jason Boehm paced the Saints with 10. Ryan Leer added 8. The Saints (coached by Doug English) also included Kevin Imhoff, Greg Fiest.

        In the final, Qu’Appelle Indian Residential clipped the Eastend Echoes 78-65 as Arlen Yuzzicappi scored 24 and Fabian Alexson 18. Mark Huhn led the Echoes with 27. Bryce Busse added 15. The Echoes led 34-32 at the half. Lebret coach Darryl Hamilton told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we made some mental errors that allowed them to get back in the game. But we have a handful of excellent athletes (and) we’re very, very strong competitors. We pride ourselves on being able to outlast and outrun anyone. We knew if we kept pushing them for three quarters of the game, they weren’t going to be able to keep up. Their instructions were to run them into the dirt.” Echoes coach Ron Lundsten said “my two big guys (Huhn and Busse) petered out a bit on me at the end. They also had exceptional outside shooting. They don’t have an inside game and tonight, their outside game was really working for them.”
