In the other semi, the Lloydminster Holy Rosary Raiders edged the Caronport Cougars 69-65 as Jason Bostick scored 18, Robert Woods 16, Tim Blush 14, Cory Gratton 9, Darren Lendvay 5, Jesse Classen 4 and Derek Johnston 3. Steve Adkins led the Cougars with 25. Warren Du Plooy added 18, Jon Gilchrist 10, Shane Johnson 9 and Andrew Raphael 1.
In the bronze medal match, the Caronport Cougars dispatched the Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints 71-65 as Steve Adkins scored 24, Shane Johnson 19, Warren du Plooy 14, Andrew Raphael 6, Mark Dueck 4, Jon Gilchrist 2 and Jeff Ruzicka 2. Johnson told the Regina Leader-Post that “we got up by 10 but they really finished strong. We came in as the number one seed and they were supposed to be number four, but they came out a little harder than we thought.” Lawrence Swiderski paced the Saints with 31. Dylan Blommaert 14, Evan Fritzke 11 and Chris Stupack 9.
In the final, the Lloydminster Holy Rosary Raiders whipped the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones 80-64 as Robert Woods scored 22, Tim Blush 19, Cory Gratton 19, Jason Bostick 9, Derek Johnston 5, Darren Lendvay 3, Jesse Classen 2 and Braden Beaudry 1. Raiders coach Marc Spragud (Bill Spragun?) told the Regina Leader-Post that “we’ve been here five consecutive years and the experience showed out there tonight with the seniors.” Gratton said “when it comes to Hoopla, it’s not the skills so much as the trust you have in the players around you.” Woods told the Regina Leader-Post that “words can’t describe it. This is just awesome. We really gelled in the last two weeks and we were able to work the ball on the inside and outside.” Asef Rahman paced the Cyclones with 13. Shane Sowden added 13, Travis Dann 10, Mike Shotter 10, Joel Mowchenko 9, Greg Strom 5 and Andy Trithardt 4. Sowden said “I didn’t expect to play as much as I have. The coaches have a lot of confidence in me. They gave the time and I did what I had to do.” Sowden noted that Central had twice beatened Holy Rosary during early season tournaments but “they were a changed team. They were the better team.”
