John Simic led the Mustangs with 18. Dave Kuntz added 16. The Mustangs prevailed on the perimeter shooting of Simic and Kuntz. McGuigan led 30-24 at the half and cranked up their press in the second half. Usher guard Kurtis Kullman told the Regina Leader-Post that “we got a little too impatient in the second half. We started making one pass too many and then turning the ball over. They changed their defences on us and we didn’t adjust quickly enough.” Mustangs coach Darrell Puscus said “we were sporadic on the boards tonight. We don’t have a lot of height, which doesn’t help, but they also played well on the boards tonight.” John Rusconi led the Unicorns with 18. Bob Baragar added 12 and Kurtis Kullman 10. The Unicorns also included Shawn Dewar, Cliff Rusconi.

Peacock Toilers defeated the Regina Usher Unicorns x-x. …………………………………………………… In the final, the Regina Sister McGuigan Mustangs clipped the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Toilers 99-89 as Dave Kuntz scored 30. Ken McDougall notched 22 to pace the Toilers. The Mustangs led 52-50 at the half. Mustangs coach Darrell Puscus told the Regina Leader-Post that “this team is just unbelievable. They rebounded with a fury. We knew we had to stop their big man and we did. This is great.” Toilers coach Larry Tollefson) said “they hurt us with their press defence. We played well but their outside shooting was difficult to defend.” The Mustangs got strong boardwork from John Cunningham and Brent Bernhauser.

        In the northeast playoffs, the North Battleford St. Thomas Saints dispatched x.

        In the Northwest final, the Saskatoon Nutana Collegiate Blues nipped the Humboldt Mohawks 80-79. Blues coach Bob Beaven told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “our guys wanted it real bad and played well but it was actually the kind of game that whoever scored the last basket would win.”

        In the provincial semis, the Saskatoon Nutana Blues defeated the North Battleford St. Thomas Saints 88-52 as Doug Tam scored 35, Jeff Wheler 18 and Ken Volden 12. Marc Boyer led the Saints with 18. Darren Swanson added 10 and Lou Gossner 8.

        In the other semi, the Regina Sister McGuigan Mustangs toppled the Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints 97-51 as Ken Pistotnik scored 18, John Simic 13, Brian Stevenson 11 and Brian Kowalchuk 10. Jonathan Ryder led the Saints with 14. Brian Mark added 10 and Dan Weber 8.

        In the bronze medal match, the Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints clipped the North Battleford St. Thomas College Saints 69-52 as Robert Olenick scored 24, Dan Weber 18 and Marvin Fulawka 8. Arnold Wandman led St. Thomas with 16. Marc Boyer added 11 and Shawn Sadlowski 9. The St. Thomas Saints also included Darren Swanson, Lou Gossner.

In the final, the Regina Sister McGuigan Mustangs dumped the Saskatoon Nutana Collegiate Blues 98-57 as John Cunningham scored 16, Randy Wihlidal 16, Brian Kowalchuk 14, Dave Kuntz 14 and John Simic 12. Doug Tam paced the Blues with 18. Ken Volden added 9, Jeff Wheler 8 and James Yausie 8. Dave Kuntz told the Regina Leader-Post that “we had to get the fast start and get the momentum. We pressed them pretty good and we tried to anticipate where they were going to throw the ball.” John Cunningham said “we really wanted this game. We just went out there with fire and played hard. We all knew what we had to do. We knew if we were going to win, we had to control the boards and if we did that, we’d come out on top.”
