In the provincial semis, the Estevan Elecs defeated the Saskatoon Nutana Collegiate Blues 66-44 after leading 31-24 at the half and 45-36 at the three-quarter mark. Barry Johnson led Estevan with 20 points. Centre Mike Dyer also scored 20. Ron Pepper led Nutana with 18. Centre Laurie Skolrood scored 11. Blues coach Ed Lepp said “we ran out of gas in the final quarter. They caught us flat-footed.”
In the other semi, Swift Current Beatty defeated North Battleford St. Thomas College Saints 50-47 as Ron Scott scored 20 and Steve Finlay scored 11. Con Adreas led St. Thomas with 17. Glen Biever added 14.
In the final, the Estevan Elecs led 17-15 at the quarter and exploded for a 20-3 run as they thumped Swift Current Beatty 70-57. Mike Dyer led Estevan with 24. Barry Johnson added 14. The Elecs led 37-18 at the half. Ron Scott paced Beatty with 21. Rick Miller added 13.
