In the provincial final, the Regina Luther Lions defeated the Saskatoon Evan Hardy Souls 55-29. Luther was ahead 25-18 at the half. They led by as many as 12 in the first half before a late Evan Hardy rally briefly trimmed the margin to two. The taller Luther squad moved ahead by 14 in the second half and pulled away. Their tight zone forced Evan Hardy to bomb from the perimeter. Luther shot 55-95 from the floor and 6-14 from the line, while Evan Hardy shot 29-67 from the floor and 9-24 from the line. Ken Bryant paced Luther with 14. Rob Pyne added 10. Bruce Higgs and Jim Kirkpatrick each scored 6 for Evan Hardy. Luther had earlier won a 4A crown in 1959. Luther coach Don Fry told the Regina Leader-Post that “their man-on-man press worked effectively at first but the kids gradually caught on to it. Also, Evan Hardy lacked height and we pretty well controlled the boards. … Ron (Pyne) played exceptionally well in the first half and it made a big difference.”
