In the quarterfinals, held in Foremost, the Calgary Christian Cougars defeated the host Forettes 75-59 as Kara Reitsma scored 31 and Monique Vanboven 25. Lee Ann Strain led the Forettes with 16. Amy Nibler added 13. The Forettes included Tara Newton, Rochelle Unser, Cindy Hughson, Nancy Lanz, Roxanne Unser, Melinda Kanig.
The Fairview St. Thomas More Kodiaks stomped the Carbon Raiders 82-51 as Bobbie-Jo Helle scored 21. Sherry Horn paced the Raiders with 16. The Raiders (coached by Dave Stewart) also included Mari Jantti, Alana Biebrick, Kim Sommerville, Sandra Stanvick, Ruth Stewart, Danille Stewart, Susan Clement, Connie Stewart.
The Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints dumped the Bentley Panthers 50-37 as Kim Goodwin scored 22. Krista Beddoes led the Panthers with 11. The Panthers (coached by Gord Graves) also included Christie Vert, Denise Rutschke, Kim Foley.
In the last quarterfinal, the Coalhurst Crusaders crushed the Thorsby Sabres 63-38 as Jenny May scored 18, and Debbie Hubbard 16. Sandy Oswald paced the Sabres with 28.
In the semis, the Calgary Christian Cougars edged the Fairview St. Thomas More Kodiaks 53-51 as Ann Reitsma scored 24. Monique Chailler led the Kodiaks with 14.
In the other semi, the Coalhurst Crusaders dispatched the Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints 65-34 as Debbie Hubbard scored 12, Lana Sprinkle 11, Elly Moch 11, Sherry Wandler 10 and Connie Sprinkle 10. Kim Goodwin led the Saints with 14.
In the bronze medal match, the Vegreville St. Mary’s Saints defeated the Fairview St. Thomas More Kodiaks 62-55. The Kodiaks included Monique Chailler, Bobbi-Jo Helle.
In the final, the Coalhurst Crusaders pounded the Calgary Christian Cougars 66-36 despite having had two starters foul out. The Crusaders led by 10 when Jenny May fouled out but their depth easily overcame the obstacle. Lana Sprinkle led the Crusaders with 23. Sherry Wandler added 15 and Debbie Hubbard 14. Kara Reitsma paced the Cougars with 25.
