In the quarterfinals, held in Sylvan Lake, the Edmonton Christian Lions torched the Kitscoty Cavaliers 58-18 as Julie Jordan scored 12.
The Hanna J.C. Charyk Hawks whipped the Sherwood Park Strathcona Christian Eagles 73-24 as Michelle Lecuyer scored 18.
The Calgary Chestermere Lakers edged the Sylvan Lake H.J. Cody Lakers 61-28 as Penne Familusi scored 35, Sherene Stockburger 12 and Corrine Finne 12. Jennifer Graham paced the Lakers with 14. Lori Macauley added 11, Bonnie Plowman 8, Renee Brassard 8 and Lori Lawrence 7. Lakers coach Ann Rowberry told the Red Deer Advocate “we lost it early. We let the pressure of playing at home and in the championships get to us. We panicked a little. Our shooting was terrible. We couldn’t hit anything.” Chestermere coach Brian Utly said “our press did the job against Ann’s bench and she couldn’t get them off soon enough. … We were able to get the ball to (Familusi) like we wanted. And that was key.” The Lakers (coached by Rowberry) also included Alice Swabey, Joanne McCutcheon.
In the last quarterfinal, the Pincher Creek Matthew Halton Hornets dusted the Spirit River Spartans 65-35 as Shari Jensen scored 32. The Spartans included Val Kincaid.
In the semis, the Hanna J.C. Charyk Hawks defeated the Pincher Creek Matthew Halton Hornets x-x.
In the other semi, the Calgary Chestermere Lakers dispatched the Edmonton Christian Lions x-x.
In the bronze medal match, the Pincher Creek Matthew Halton Hornets defeated the Edmonton Christian Lions x-x.
In the final, the Hanna J.C. Charyk Hawks clipped the Calgary Chestermere Lakers 67-57 as Chris Mohl scored 19, Darlene Fabrick 15 and Melanie Haines 12..
