In the final, the Lacombe Rams edged the Calgary Bowness Trojans 61-55 as Wendy Vanderschee scored 20, Liz Dixon 18, Tammy Tonneson 11 and Mel Kamps 2. The Rams ripped off a 14-2 run down the stretch to erase a 53-47 deficit. Rams coach Len Tollenaar told the Red Deer Advocate that with Mel Kamps seeing limited minutes because of a knee injury, “we had a smaller line-up, forced a couple of turnovers and they lost their composure. … In the end, our emphasis on team play paid off. We wanted our bench to be able to play and had it not been capable, we would have been in a lot of trouble, especially with Mel not being healthy.” Vanderschee led Trojans star Carri Dueck to two points in the second half.
