The Buffaloes (coach Pat Williams, assistant Helen Harper) included Jodi Hayer, Sheila Hirch, Jerri Unchelenko, Monica Dyck, Michell Schalm, Poggy Tridl, Claudia Prins, Vicki Lalonde, Connie Schalbie and Carmen Anderson.
The Lacombe Rams bombed the Camrose Trojans 59-30 as Cindy Grieb scored 15, Christine Beally 12 and Tracy Angel 9.
The Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots whipped the Okotoks Foothills Falcons 52-35.
In the last quarterfinal, the St. Albert Skyhawks dusted the Calgary Ernest Manning Griffins 66-41.
In the semis, the Taber W.R. Myers Saints defeated the Lacombe Rams 52-48 as Sharon Hamilton scored 16 and nabbed 9 boards. Virginia Meyer added 14 and Dawn Nelson 11.
In the other semi, the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots nipped the St. Albert Skyhawks: 57-53.
In the bronze medal match, the Lacombe Ramettes defeated the St. Albert Skyhawks 46-42. The Skyhawks (coach Hank Reinbold, assistant Maggie Bourgeois, manager Donna Levoy, manager Patti Sieczka) include Tess Willott, Gaylene Borgstede, Cara Wheatley, Cheryl Lozinski, Karen Neveu, Maureen Venne, Maureen Hughes, Tannie Cyr, Tamer Young and Alison Hughes.
In the final, the Taber W.R. Myers Saints defeated the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots 62-39 to capture their second consecutive crown. Virginia Meyer paced the Saints with 22 points and 11 boards. Sharon Hamilton added 10 points, along with 23 boards, Corinne Jensen 9, Audrey Bullock 8 and Dawn Nelson 8. Saints coach Cliff Walters told the Lethbridge Herald that guards Jensen and Nelson did an exceptional job against pressure, while Hamilton and Meyer were “a tough combination under the boards.” The Saints had lost to Jordan earlier in the season at a tournament in Medicine Hat, and Walters said the hosts may have been overconfident going into the final. The loss was the Scots first in 35 games. The Saints finished (42-4) on the season.
