In the quarterfinals, held in Canmore, the Devon John Maland Wildcats defeated the Ashmont Falcons x-x.
The Chestermere Lakers defeated Grimshaw x-x.
The Milk River Erle Rivers Comets defeated the Edmonton J.H. Picard Pumas 88-39 after leading 52-23 at the half. Barry Chapman and Dewey Rowland each scored 18 to pace the Comets.
In the last quarterfinal, the Canmore Lawrence Grassi Crusaders nipped the Sylvan Lake J.H. Cody Lakers 67-65. Nick Butuk paced the Lakers with 21. The Lakers (coached by Dave Green) also included Gareth Joels, Ross Richardson, Craig Morrow, Jason Schamber.
In the semis, the Milk River Erle Rivers Comets clipped the Chestermere Lakers 68-61 (also reported as 68-63).
In the other semi, the Canmore Lawrence Grassi Crusaders edged the Devon John Maland Wildcats 73-72.
In the bronze medal match, the Calgary Chestermere Lakers dispatched the Devon John Maland Wildcats 91-75.
In the final, the Milk River Erle Rivers Comets defeated the Canmore Lawrence Grassi Crusaders 60-59. “I’m extremely happy. I got a super effort out of all of my kids. They came to play and they did, and that’s why they won,” Comets coach Don Gellatly told the Lethbridge Herald. “We had about 200 fans there and they had 400. I felt they were playing a bit on emotion and we kept wearing them away, wearing them away, wearing them away until there was no emotion left. They were playing pretty high at the start of the game and we settled them right down.” The score was knotted at 39 at the half. Shawn Balog paced the Comets with 28. Dewey Rowland added 27.
