In the quarterfinals, held in Lethbridge, the host Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles edged the Calgary Chestermere Lakers 55-52 as Dave Wever scored 17, Wayne Wever 16 and Edgar Veldman 12. Cheyno Finnie paced the Lakers (coached by Rob Wilson) with 20. Todd VanderBurgh added 11.

        The Edmonton Concordia Mustangs whipped the Ashmont Falcons 60-41 as Mike Borger scored 24 and Bryan Braul 11. Jeff Smith paced the Falcons with 16. Darren Gates added 10.

        The Delburne Trojans edged the Peace River Glenmary Saints 56-52 as Charles Bouchard scored 16 and Terry Korte 13. John Groenen paced the Saints with 15. Ken Buckland added 13.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Picture Butte Sugar Kings dumped the Edmonton J.H. Picard Pumas 79-47 as Randy Hellwig scored 19 and Paul Bergen-Henengouwen 16. Charles Lemay led the Pumas with 12.

        In the semis, the Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles defeated the Delburne Trojans 66-56 as Edgar Veldman scored 19 and Dave Wever 16.

        In the other semi, the Picture Butte Sugar Kings nipped the Edmonton Concordia Mustangs 57-55 as Randy Hellwig scored 20 and Rodney Osterbroek 11. Brian Muir paced the Trojans with 15. Ken Buckland added 12 and John Groenen 12.

        In the bronze medal match, the Edmonton Concordia Mustangs defeated the Delburne Trojans 50-39 as Michael Borger scored 28. Ken Buckland paced the Trojans with 14. Brian Muir added 10. The Trojans also included Rob Lozynski, John Groenen, Darren Morrison.

In the final, the Picture Butte Sugar Kings defeated the Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles 45-38. “I told them before the game they probably would be playing the game on their own,” because of the noise in the gym, said

Sugar Kings coach Kevin Reiter. “They knew what was expected of them. … (The noise) definitely helped us. The fan support was just excellent.” The Eagles led 23-22 at the half. The Sugar Kings regained a 34-27 edge in the second half but the Eagles responded with a 7-0 run. The Sugar Kings countered with their own 7-0 run as they regained command. Paul Bergen-Henengouwen led the Sugar Kings with 13. Darren Mazutinec added 10 and Rodney Oosterbroek 10. Edgar Veldman led the Eagles with 17. Dave Wever added 10. Reiter said team defence proved the difference. “We really tightened it up when we had to. When we didn’t score, we would go back and work hard enough to get the ball back.” Kevin Reiter had played on two provincial title teams for the Sugar Kings, while assistant coach and brother Scott had played on one.
