In the quarterfinals, held in Stettler, the Daysland Dynamos edged the Medicine Hat Crescent Heights Drifters 60-58 on a pair of free throws by Vic McCarol with three seconds to play. Dennis Vos paced the Dynamos with 24. Larry Brinker added 17. The Drifters led 13-7 after one quarter and 31-30 at the half. The Dynamos led 44-43 after three quarters. Dave Love paced Drifters with 17. Lindsay Fraser added 16. Drifters (coached by Cliff Pederson and managed by Bob Brown) also included Keith Rae, Howard Hashizume, Curtis Winkler, Chris Massini, Wayne Sinclair, Gordon Deboef and Bob Holden.

The Stettler William E. Hays Wildcats edged the Grande Prairie St. Joseph’s Celtics 44-41. The Totems led 6-4 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 13 at the half. The Wildcats led 29-22 after three quarters. Dean Davidson paced the Wildcats with 21. Lawrence Hart added 6 and John Malcolm 6. Colonel McLellan paced the Totems with 10. The Totems (coach J MacLellan, manager Alfred Doll) also included Dennis Hillerud, Doug Allen, John Anderson, Richard Moon, Danny Zeyha, Bob Nelson, Murray Smith, Danny Menard, Richard Baer, Craig Duperron, Gerald Lux, Donnie Wald and Ed Johnston.

        The Fort Saskatchewan Stingers clipped the Drumheller Dynos 51-43 after leading 17-4, 24-13 and 47-33 at the quarters. Randy Routly paced the Stingers with 23. Steve Wadsworth led the Dynos with 11. The Dynos also included Eldon Barton.

        In the last quarterfinal, Vegreville dispatched the Cardston Dougars 48-42 as Eldon Auch scored 15. Malcolm Roberts led the Cougars with 12. The Cougars also included Vern Sommerfeldt, Marse McNaughton, Merrill Roberts, Brian Eaves, Brian Pitcher, Vic Sommerfeldt.

        In the semis, the Stettler William E. Hay Wildcats nipped Vegreville 41-40 afer surviving a late 8-0 run. The Wildcats led 12-10, 21-20 and 38-29 at the quarters. Pat Filipenko paced the Wildcats with 15. Dean Davidson added 11 and Don Harbeson 8. Ned Fedoruk led Vegrefille with 19. Eldon Auch added 11.

        In the other semi, the Fort Saskatchewan Stingers dispatched the Daysland Dynamos 54-43 as Randy Routly scored 19, Malcolm Turner 15 and Bill Hayes 14. Dave (Dennis?) Vos paced the Dynamos with 14. Larry Koehl added 12.

        There is no evidence of a bronze medal playoff.

        In the final, the Stettler William E. Hay Wildcats defeated the Fort Saskatchewan Stingers 50-38. The Stingers led 14-9 after one quarter. The score was knotted at 24 at the half.
