In the quarterfinals, the Taber W.R. Myers Saints defeated the Wetaskiwin Sabres 69-53 as Gregg Hansen scored 20 and Trevor Johnson 19. The Saints led 33-30 at the half. Luke Gorbahn led the Sabres with 19.

The Edmonton Archbishop McDonald Marauders dispatched the Red Deer Camille J. LeRouge Cougars 44-38 as Brian McGee scored 14. The Marauders led 18-12 at the half. “I guess we just couldn’t get up for the game in the first half,” Marauders coach Sebastian Fratin told the Edmonton Journal. Ken Lodewyk led the Cougars with 10. Bernie Moore added 8 and Bill Lodewyk 6. The Cougars (coached by Bruce Buchanan) included Gord James, Mark Davis, Mike Docherty, Gordon Bergh, Dave Kelly.

The Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots torched the Calgary Bowness Trojans 84-24. The Trojans (coached by Don Daum) included Ken Pettigrew, Rob (Ray?) Lagore, Whit Skaug, Dean Lang, Moore, Reg Harris, Crouss, Peter Olson, Darcy Samaluk.

In the last quarterfinal, the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts clipped the Bonnyville Roadrunners 66-50 as Pat Grisonich scored 20.

 In the semis, the Taber W.R. Myers Saints clipped the Edmonton Archbishop McDonald Marauders 63-51 as Gregg Hansen scored 20 and Trevor Johnson 17.

In the other semi, the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots nipped the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts 54-52. Pat Grisonich paced the Colts with 20.

In the bronze medal match, the Medicine Hat McCoy Colts trampled the Edmonton Archbishop Macdonald Marauders 79-66 as Roger Dirk scored 16. The Marauders (coached by Sebastian Frattin) also included Brian McGee, Bob Arnett, Howie McCann. Marauders coach Sebastian Fratin told the Edmonton Journal that southern Alberta’s dominance of basketball is a function of the fact that “we lose a lot of our top athletes to hockey in the winter. In the south, basketball is the big winter game.” Archbishop Jordan coach Jerry Karpinka concurred. “That’s real basketball country down there. It’s a real hotbed with a strong basketball tradition. They also play in good competitive leagues, so they’re very polished players.”

In the final, the Taber W.R. Myers Saints defeated the Sherwood Park Archbishop Jordan Scots 64-55 after leading 18-13, 29-25 and 41-40 at the quarters. Gregg Hansen paced the Saints with 25. Darryl Rogers added 12 and Mike Henry 11. “It feels so good I can’t believe it,” rookie Myers coach Tim Rollingson told the Lethbridge Herald. “I don’t think there’s anything more a 23-year-old coach could ask for in his first season. … We came from behind in every game we played at the tournament, but we won all four. We shot 53 per cent from the field for the entire tournament. Hansen had himself a tremendous tournament, he averaged 15 rebounds a game and scored a total of 75 points. But the win was a complete team effort. It was tremendous, and I’m so proud of the team. They really deserved it.” Russ Paccagan paced the Scots with 24.
