In the quarterfinals, held in Lethbridge, the Raymond Comets dusted the Edmonton Victoria Composite Redmen 61-49 as Danny Court scored 13, Gary Williams 12, Wallace Tollestrup 10, Jerry Laszynsky 8, Lloyd Fairbanks 4, Stewart Robinson 4, Glen Marshall 4 and Doug Tollestrup 2, while Ted Anderson and Dave Blumell were scoreless. Terry Smith paced the Redmen with 9. Fennell added 8, Bob Dawson 6, Barry Cunningham 6, Bladon 4, Dale Lovatt 3, Garry Widynowski 2 and Murray 1, while Brian Bradley, Polan, Richardson and Bill Brandon were scoreless. The Edmonton Jasper Place Rebels clocked the Magrath Zeniths 69-44 as Bill Stevenson scored 21, Bill Evans 15, Curt Wolsey 15, Hart 11, Mike Frisby 4 and Bowes 3, while Ellis, Cocks, Forsythe, Krieter, D Stevenson and Demaine were scoreless. Donald Hamilton paced the Zeniths (coached by Ray Stevenson) with 19. Conrad Wallburger added 9, Gurney 6, Thompson 4, Rollingson 3 and Craig Leishman 2, while Ririe, Long, S Leishman and Kulcsar were scoreless. The Rebels broke to an 8-0 lead but the Zeniths rallied to knot the score at 22. The Rebels responded with a 10-0 run to close out the half.
The Calgary Henry Wise Wood Warriors edged the Lethbridge Catholic Central Cougars 54-49 as Mike McGuinness scored 13, Ron Tanner 11, Gary Doody 10, Clarke Stevens 6, Don Copeland 6, Shaw 3, MacLachlan 2, Wood 1 and Eppenscheid 1, while Desireau and Campbell were scoreless. Alec Dudas paced the Cougars (coached by Hans Schamp) with 13. John Dudas added 11, Greg Royer 9, Lyle Gallant 3 and Bill Harbuz 1, while Roger Reilander, Tom Beresnak and Gerald Baron were scoreless. The score was knotted at 49 with 1:30 to play and the Warriors closed it out with a 5-0 run. The Warriors led 12-11 after one quarter. The Cougars led 27-24 at the half. The Warriors led 39-33 after three quarters.
In the last quarterfinal, the Calgary James Fowler Falcons smacked the Cardston Cougars 72-66 as Grant Sherwood scored 15, Dick Riggons 12, Jeff Hagen 10, Layton 10, Crooks 7, George See 7, Rick Ragan 4 and Daryl Evans 2, while Boyer and Holmes were scoreless. Neil Wolsey paced the Cougars (coached by Blaine Bunnage) with 11. Eric Peterson added 11, Perrett 10, Joe Pitcher 7, K Spackman 5 and Fox 1, while Brian Spackman, Campbell and Bengry were scoreless. The Falcons led 41-31 at the half. Although the Cougars rallied within three, Grant Sherwood scored three consecutive buckets to ice it.
In the semis, the Raymond Comets stomped the Calgary James Fowler Falcons 81-49 as Gary Williams scored 20, Stewart Robinson 16, Danny Court 15, Wallace Tollestrup 12, Lloyd Fairbanks 7, Glen Marshall 4, Jerry Laszynskyj 2, Ted Anderson 2 and Doug Tollestrup 1, while Dave Blumell was scoreless. In the final, the Raymond Comets defeated Edmonton Jasper Place Rebels 49-44 to cap an undefeated season and win their third provincial title in four years. The Rebels led 14-11 after one quarter. The Rebels led 27-21 at the half and 38-32 after three quarters. The game was tied at 44 with a minute to play but Lloyd Fairbanks hit a putback. Fouled on the play, he had a free throw. The Comets later iced it with a pair from the line with 5 seconds to play. Gary Williams paced the Comets with 12. Lloyd Fairbanks added 10, Wallace Tollestrup 9, Danny Court 8, Jerry Laszynskyj 6 and Stewart Robinson 4, while Ted Anderson, Glen Marshall, Doug Tollestrup and Dave Blumell were scoreless.
