After the season, the IBA merged with the International Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Assocation to “restart” the CBA for the 2001–2002 season (see CBA section above). The Saskatchewan Hawks opted to join the reconfigured CBA, while the Winnipeg Cyclone declined.
