Transactions:
-May 25/17: The Raptors acquire a future second-round draft pick from the Orlando Magic in exchange for the contractual release of general manager Jeff Weltman. The Magic named Weltman as president of basketball operations.
-June 23/17: The Raptors select Indiana University forward O.G. Anunoby with the 23rd pick of the 2017 NBA draft. The 6-8, 232 pounds forward played two seasons at Indiana (2015-17), averaging 6.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 17.4 minutes. He totaled 48 steals and 47 blocks in 50 career games (10 starts). Anunoby averaged 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 25.1 minutes this past season. He recorded at least one block or one steal in all 16 of his games played. Anunoby set career highs of 21 points November 27 versus Mississippi Valley State and seven steals January 15 versus Rutgers. He sustained a season-ending injury to his right knee January 18 at Penn State.
-July 6/17: Sign Malcolm Miller to two-way contract. The 6-7 forward averaged 7.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 18.7 minutes in 29 games last season for Alba Berlin of the German Bundesliga. In 2015-16, he averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 31.9 minutes in 47 games for the Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League and was second on the team with 84 made three-pointers. A native of Laytonsville, Maryland, Miller played four seasons at Holy Cross and was named Second-Team All-Patriot League during his senior year.
-July 7/17: Sign Kyle Lowry to $100-million(U.S.)/three-year contract. In five seasons with Toronto, Lowry is averaging 18.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 35.0 minutes during 354 regular season games. The Raptors acquired Lowry from the Houston Rockets on July 11, 2012 in exchange for Gary Forbes and a first-round draft pick. He was a first-round selection (24th overall) by Memphis in the 2006 NBA Draft. Lowry has appeared in 713 regular season games (477 starts), averaging 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 30.9 minutes for Memphis, Houston and Toronto.
-July 7/17: Sign free agent Serge Ibaka to to a $65-million/three-year contract. The 6-10 forward averaged 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks (10th in the NBA) and 30.7 minutes in 79 games (all starts) last season between Orlando and Toronto. The Raptors acquired him from the Magic on February 14 in exchange for Terrence Ross and a 2017 first-round pick.
-July 9/17: Sign OG Anunoby to a rookie-scale contract, with 2 options years following the 2018-19 campaign.
-July 9/17: Sign Alfonzo McKinnie to a multi-year contract. The 6-8 forward averaged 14.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 30.5 minutes in 50 games last season for the Windy City Bulls of the NBA G League. The Chicago, Illinois native was named to the 2017 NBA G League All-Star Game in New Orleans and scored 16 points in 22 minutes of action. McKinnie won a silver medal for USA Basketball at the 2016 FIBA 3×3 World Championship in Guangzhou, China. He split the 2015-16 season between the East Side Pirates (Luxembourg) and Heromsillo (Mexico), where he averaged 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 26.0 minutes in 24 games. McKinnie played two collegiate seasons with Wisconsin-Green Bay (2013-15) and two seasons at Eastern Illinois (2010-12).
-July 13/17: In perhaps the most expensive salary dump in history to create space for new contracts for DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, the Raptors trade DeMarre Carroll (and the two years and $30 million remaining on his contract), a 2018 first-round draft pick and a 20-18 second-round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Justin Hamilton. The 7-0 Hamilton averaged 6.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 18.4 minutes in 64 games (seven starts) last season for Brooklyn. A native of Newport Beach, California, Hamilton was selected by Philadelphia in the second-round (45th overall) of the 2012 NBA Draft. Carroll averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 27.2 minutes in 98 games (94 starts) with Toronto. He signed as a free-agent July 9, 2015.
-July 14/17: Trade Cory Joseph to the Indiana Pacers for the rights to Emir Preldzic. The 6-9 forward began playing professionally in 2003 and spent eight seasons (2007-15) with Fenerbahçe Ülker (Turkey) of the EuroLeague. He played the past two seasons with Darüşşafaka (2015-16) and Galatasaray (2016-17) in the Turkish League. Preldzic, a native of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was selected 57th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA Draft. His draft rights have also been held by Cleveland, Washington, Dallas and Indiana. Joseph averaged 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists during 160 regular-season games (26 starts) over two seasons with Toronto. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30 playoff games. Joseph, a native of Pickering, Ontario, was the second Canadian to appear in an NBA game for the Raptors. He signed as a free-agent July 9, 2015. The move is viewed as means of freeing up salary space to sign Indiana free agent C.J. Miles.

-July 18/17: Sign free agent C.J. Miles to multi-year contract. The 6-6 forward is projected to stretch the floor for the Raptors and open things up for DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. Miles was drafted by the Utah Jazz as an 18-year-old in the final draft where players could enter straight out of high school. The 6-6 forward holds career averages of 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 715 games through 12 NBA seasons with Indiana, Cleveland and Utah. He is a career .316 (1,008-for-2,795) three-point shooter and has made at least 100 three-point field goals in five of the last seven seasons (2010-17), including each of the last three. Miles spent the 2016-17 campaign with the Pacers, averaging 10.7 points and 3.0 rebounds. He shot a career-best .413 (169-for-409) from three-point range. His 169 three-pointers made in 76 games ranked were a single-season career-high and ranked seventh among Eastern Conference players. Miles played three seasons (2014-17) for Indiana averaging 12.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 210 games. He averaged a career-best 13.5 points during the 2014-15 campaign. Prior to joining the Pacers, he averaged 10.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 116 games over two seasons (2012-14) with Cleveland. Miles spent the first seven years of his NBA career (2005-12) with the Jazz, averaging 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 389 appearances. A native of Dallas, Texas, Miles was selected 34th overall by Utah in the 2005 NBA Draft following a standout career at Skyline High School. He was named All-Dallas Area Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News and was a 2005 McDonaldʼs High School All-American.
-July 18/17: Sign Kennedy Meeks to a two-way contract. The 6-10 post participated with the Raptorsʼ entry in NBA Summer League 2017 in Las Vegas, averaging 11.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 15.5 minutes in four games. He played 4 seasons at North Carolina (2013-17), averaging 10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 21.3 minutes in 144 games. He ranks fifth all-time in school history in rebounds (1,052). As a senior, Meeks helped the Tar heels win the national championship. He averaged career highs in points (12.5), rebounds (9.5) and minutes (24.3) in 40 games. He earned All-Final Four honours after recording a career high-tying 25 points and 14 rebounds in the semifinals versus Oregon.
-July 25/17: Sign Lorenzo Brown to two-way contract. The 6-5 forward averaged 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 63 career NBA games with Philadelphia (2013-14), Minnesota (2014-15) and Phoenix (2015-16). He has also appeared in games for the Delaware 87ers (2013-14), Springfield Armor (2013-14) and Grand Rapids Drive (2014-17) of the NBA G League. Brown split the 2016-17 season between the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and Grand Rapids. He averaged 24.0 points, while shooting .301 (37-for-123) from three-point range during 20 games with Zhejiang. Brown finished the season averaging 23.6 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting .353 (18-for-51) from three-point territory in 11 appearances for the Drive. The native of Roswell, Georgia, was selected 52nd overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by Minnesota. He played three seasons at North Carolina State and was named Second Team All-ACC his junior year.
-August 22/17: Sign K.J. McDaniels. The 6-6 forward split last season between Houston and Brooklyn, averaging 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 10.3 minutes in 49 games. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, McDaniels owns career averages of 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 14.1 minutes in 148 career games (16 starts) with Philadelphia, Houston and Brooklyn. He was picked 32nd overall by the Sixers in the 2014 NBA Draft. McDaniels played three collegiate seasons at Clemson (2011-14). As a junior, he was voted ACC Defensive Player of the Year by the media and led the Tigers in points (614), rebounds (255), blocks (100), steals (41) and three-point field goals (42).
-August 15/17: Sign Kyle Wiltjer. The 6-10 forward appeared in 14 games for the Houston Rockets last season, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds in 44 minutes of action. He also averaged 20.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 35.9 minutes in 22 contests for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA G League. He shot .379 (81-for-214) from three-point range with the Vipers. Wiltjer signed with the Rockets as an undrafted free agent in September 2016. He played two collegiate seasons at Kentucky (2011-13) before transferring to Gonzaga (2014-16), where he averaged a team-high 20.4 points during his senior season. Wiltjer was named All-West Coast Conference First Team as a junior and senior.

-October 8/17: Sign Norman Powell to a multi-year contract extension. In two seasons with the Raptors, Powell was averaging 7.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 16.7 minutes in 125 career games (42 starts). He has shot .351 (92-262) from three-point range. In 27 career playoff contests, Powell owns averages of 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 16.0 minutes. He was selected by Milwaukee with the 46th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Raptors acquired him on draft night from the Bucks along with a protected future first-round pick in exchange for guard Greivis Vasquez. Powell played four seasons (2011-15) at UCLA, averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 25.2 minutes in 141 career games. He played in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments (2013-15) and made back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances (2014-15). Powell was named first-team All-Pac 12 and was an Honourable Mention selection on the All-Pac 12 Defensive Team as a senior.

-February 8/18: Trade Bruno Caboclo to the Sacramento Kings for Malachi Richardson. The 6-6 Richardson had averaged 3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg and 11.0 mpg in 25 games for the Kings. Richardson owns career averages of 3.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 11.0 minutes in 47 games. Richardson was selected 22nd overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets. His draft rights were acquired by the Kings in exchange for forward Marco Belinelli. Richardson played one season at Syracuse (2015-16), averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 34.4 minutes in 37 games. He shot .353 (79-for-225) from three-point range and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. Caboclo appeared in 25 games for the Raptors during four seasons (2014-18). He was selected 20th overall by Toronto in the 2014 NBA Draft.

The 6-8 forward had been averaging 16.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 35.6 minutes in 38 games this season with the NBA G League’s Westchester Knicks. He is shooting .450 (227-for-505) from the field, .441 (94-for-213) from three-point range and .744 (64-for-86) at the free throw line. Hayes played four seasons at Wisconsin (2013-17), averaging 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 29.6 minutes in 150 games. He finished his career ranked third on the school’s all-time scoring list (1,857) and is the only Badger in the top-10 in points, rebounds and assists. Hayes was selected All-Big Ten Third Team as a senior.

Brown was selected as the 2017-18 MVP of the NBA G League on Apr. 10 after averaging team highs of 18.8 points, 8.9 assists and 1.78 steals in 32 games (all starts) for Raptors 905. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds and shot .468 from the field. Raptors 905 (31-19) went 25-7 with Brown in the lineup.

Season wrap:
The Raptors capture the East division regular season with a franchise-record of 59-23. They defeat the Washington Wizards 4g-2 in the opening round of the playoffs before once again swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East division semis. Stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry are either absent or shift into hero ball against the Cavaliers. Following the series, the Raptors dismiss Duane Casey as coach, though he’d been selected by NBA’s coach of the year in a vote by the league’s 30 coaches.
