In the final, the Whitehorse Vanier Catholic Crusaders stomped the Whitehorse F.H. Collins Warriors 66-39 as tournament MVP Jennifer Racz scored 25, including 19 in the second half. Jessica Lansfield added 14 on some great feeds from Racz. The Crusaders led 28-24 at the half on late putback by Suki Sidhu. “We knew their two best players were in foul trouble, so I wanted to come out in the second and start taking the ball to the (basket) more,” Racz told the Whitehorse Star. “We showed a lot of heart (Saturday). Obviously, with it being my last (high school) game, I wanted to play well. I didn’t want to go out with a loss.” The Crusaders hit 11-23 from the line, while the Warriors were 8-19. Warriors’ guard Joy Nguygen scored 13 before finding herself in foul trouble while trying to contain Racz. Caroline MacKenzie added 13. Warriors coach Cynthia Lyslo said Racz was the difference. “(The outcome) was kind of disappointing. We played together in the first half, but some bad decisions with the ball really hurt us in the second. Our inexperience really showed. (Racz) took the game over in the second half. She was their whole game and once she got them in the lead, there was no way we were ever going to catch them.”
