In game one of the Quebec/Atlantic final, the Antigonish Scots won 39-35 after taking a 10-8 lead at the quarter and double the margin to 15 by the half. Montreal opened the second half with a 6-0 run but the Scots rallied to win it as Cordis MacIssac scored 20, Louise Maclellan 11, Bernice Murphy 4 and Evelyn Floyd 4. Montreal was led by Diane Barras 24, including 16-19 from the line, Tanya Bell 3, Sue Porter 3, Joy MacIntyre 3 and Sheila Hirsch 2.

The national tourney was a round-robin draw held in Vancouver. The Richmond Merchants captured the title by going undefeated with a (3-0) record. The University of Saskatchewan Huskies finished second with a (2-1) record.
The Richmond Merchants stomped Edmonton 71-35 as Darlene Currie scored 23, Mary MacDonald 20, Bev Coward 14, Marg Whitehead 4, Betty Mantyla 4, Cathy Thomson 3, Joan Lorenz 2 and Shelagh Farrell 1. Edmonton was led by Lorraine Tory 13, Marlene Kurt 9, Phyllis Schmitt 9 and Ileane Mousseau 2 and Betty Lou Archibald 2, while Diane Burton, Ellony Yurchuk, Claudette Menage and Jean Harvie were scoreless. Jasperettes coach Bob Davies told the Vancouver Sun that “our girls were simply bewildered out there. They can’t cope with jump shots and opponents who look one way and pass the other.”
The Merchants defeated U.B.C. 74-38 as Darlene Currie scored 14, Mary McDonald 11, Kathy Thomson 11, Marg Whitehead 9, Bev Coward 9 and Betty Mantyla 6. Richmond led 41-20 at the half.
