In the semis, the English Harbour East Fitzgerald Academy Falcons stunned the Plum Point Viking Trail Academy Trailblazers x-x. After the boys won that game, I could have went home (laughs).”

In the final, the Trepassey Stella Maris Mystics whipped the Eastport Holy Cross Complex Crusaders 74-42. Holy Cross coach Sandy Payne said the Mystics “top five were all basketball-oriented players. It’s the sport they’re into. They were in excellent shape. I think the game was a little lopsided because my guys, which included nine players, one of which was a Grade 7 student who didn’t get much playing time, were winded. Two or three guys didn’t get off the floor the entire tournament. I think we ran out of steam.” Still, a silver was an accomplishment, he added. “I knew it was in ‘em as soon as we started the season. I could see the talent in the boys. It was amazing,” he said. “As the boys were winning, they weren’t going through the games showboating, or doing anything unnecessary. They went about their business like a good group of kids. In fact, I wouldn’t even call them kids by the way they were acting.”
