In the semis, the Charlottetown Rural Raiders defeated the Kinkora Blazers 47-43. The teams were tied at 20 at the half. Cheryl MacLeod and Alisha Kenny each scored 12 for Rural. Marissa Lynch led Kinkora with 11. Emma Murphy added 10. In the other semi, the Morell Marlins defeated the Hampshire Bluefield Bobcats 59-38. Morell led 31-11 at the half. Amanda Simmonds paced Morell with 16. Michaela MacDonald added 13 and Mallory MacKinnon 12. Meredith Farrell led Hampshire Bluefield with 12. Aileen Hovingh added 10 and Susan Frizzell 8.
In the bronze medal match, the Hampshire Bluefield Bobcats nipped the Kinkora Blazers 39-38 in overtime as Aileen Hovingh hit the winning bucket in the final minute. She’d earlier hit a hoop with 0.3 seconds on the clock to force the extra session. Hovingh finished with 5 points and 14 boards. A trey by Emma Murphy of Kinkora had tied the game at 22 with 10 minutes and then a trey by Meredith Pharo notched it at 28 with four minutes on the clock. Kendra McSweeney gave Kinkora a 32-31 lead with 50 seconds left before Murphy pulled down a critical offensive board to give Hampshire Bluefield the ball and set the stage for Hovingh’s overtime-forcer with six seconds to play. Pharo paced the Bobcats with 14 points and 12 boards. Angie Denny scored 6. Marissa Lynch led Kinkora with 14. Heather McIver added 4 and 9 boards, while Janelle Carmichael scored 6.
In the final, the Morell Marlins defeated the Charlottetown Rural Raiders 51-31. Mallory MacKinnon led Morell with 17 points and 14 boards. Emily Kate MacDonald scored 12. Michaela MacDonald scored 9 and grabbed 16 boards, while Amanda Simmonds scored 6 and had 6 steals. Laura Robert led Charlottetown Rural with 11. Kathryn Mallett added 8 and Cheryl MacLeod 6. The Marlins took command when Emily Kate MacDonald nailed three consecutive treys. Morell led 25-17 at the half.
