We tried to play every game one game at a time. When we came into the dressing room (for the final), we talked about this was our goal all year and (co-coach) Shelley (Lilly) had a found a quote, ‘Stand up and finish what you start.’” Lilly said “the team all got along well, and no matter who we put on the floor they played well with each other.” Miller said depth and a total team effort were the Axewomen’s greatest assets. “I don’t think we’ve had very many games where every girl didn’t play with confidence. Most of the teams we have played probably had two or three girls to take off the bench, where we had seven.” Westisle coach Dana Gard said “I have a young team, and they developed over the course of the year. We had a great record, 11 wins, five losses and a couple of second-place finishes to Three Oaks in tournaments. They developed a lot, they came together a lot as a team. It showed out there tonight (in the final), they played hard.”
