In the quarterfinals, held in Porter’s Lake, the top-seeded Middleton Monarchs clubbed the 8th-seeded host Musquodoboit Harbour Eastern Shore District Schooners 86-50 as Ian Gullage scored 25. Colton Romo paced the Schooners with 18. The Schooners included Jake Wamboldt.
The 4th-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings defeated the 5th-seeded Alma Northumberland Regional Nighthawks 61-52 as Caleb Hayes scored 19 and Adrian Van Vulpen 16. The Nighthawks (coached by x, assisted by Kenny Lockhart) included Jordan McNeil, Kris Works, Nick MacNeill, Simon Deffet.
The 3rd-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears nipped the 6th-seeded Bridgewater Park View Education Centre Panthers 74-73 as Luke MacArthur notched an old-fashioned three-point play with six seconds to play. Cody Leadbeater paced the Bears with 20. Alex Macleod added 12, Kyle Burns 11 and Andrew Snyder 10. Jonah Comeau led the Panthers with 18. Bridgewater included Brandon Minard, Andrew Snyder, Jared Wamboldt, Jordan Mullen, Evan Mitchell, Jah’Von Delaney, Leslie Johnson and Jack Li.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Yarmouth Consolidated Vikings dispatched the 7th-seeded Canning Northeast Kings Education Centre Titans 83-68 as Luke Nickerson scored 32. Schuyler Leenhounts paced the Titans with 19. The Titans also included Brandon Hatt, Greg Carpenter, Logan MacKinley, Alex Thomson, Andrew Chase and Waylen Leenhouts.
In the semis, the top-seeded Middleton Monarchs crushed the 4th-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings 92-70 as Adam McNeil scored 30. Patrick Neufeld led the Vikings with 24, while nabbing 16 boards.
In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Yarmouth Consolidated Vikings dumped the 3rd-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears 84-75 as Luke Nickerson and Liam Atkinson each scored 17. Kyle Burns led the Bears with 19. Ethan Deruelle added 13.
In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Amherst Regional Vikings edged the 3rd-seeded New Waterford Breton Education Centre Bears 61-58 as Arian Van Vulpen scored 17, while nabbing 18 boards. Patrick Neufeld notched 13, along with 22 boards, and Jason Morse 11. Vikings coach Matt Gamblin told the Amherst news that “the improvement from the first games we played in November to capping off the season with a bronze medal at provincials is remarkable. The future looks very bright.” Cody Leadbeater paced the Bears with 16. The Bears (coached by Jean-Guy Demeter, assisted by Greg Campbell) also included Kyle Burns, Keagan Madden, Connor MacKenzie, Alex MacLeod, Eric Walzak, Kenny Power, Jason Hawley, Jordan MacPhee, Ethan Deruelle, Luke MacArthur and Dillon White.
In the final, the 2nd-seeded Yarmouth Consolidated Vikings nipped the top-seeded Middleton Monarchs 82-81 to capture their second consecutive title. Luke Nickerson paced the Vikings with 27, including the winning free throws with 12 seconds on the clock. Adam Barnett added 19, Brandon Trask 12, Allan Rowe 12 and Liam Atkinson 11. Adam McNeil led the Monarchs with 31. “It was a very exciting game, very close,” said Yarmouth coach Tom MacMillan. “There were all kinds of lead changes. Really an intense game.”
