Reserve Libby Mason stepped in the final minute to hit two critical buckets, including an 18-footer with 14 seconds to play to give the Panthers their first title. “Oh probably,” Mason told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal when asked if the shot was the biggest of her career. “I wasn’t nervous, but I was scared. I wasn’t nervous playing in front of all these people, but I just didn’t want to screw up.” Mason got her chance when teammate Josie Marks fouled out with 37 seconds left and Hartland ahead 62-59. She made an instant impression as she took a pass from the game’s most valuable player Denessa Pollock and converted a layup with 28 seconds remaining. Pollock scored 19 and nabbed 18 rebounds to pace the comeback. She sent the game to overtime with a free throw at the 19:56 mark of the second half and then dominated the extra session with four steals, two assists, one block and two rebounds.
