In the quarterfinals, the Fredericton Black Kats trounced the Dieppe Mathieu Martin Matadors 118-33 as Dylan Lisson scored 22 and Gabe Hanselpacker 20. Robert Depres paced the Matadors with 9. Fredericton led 64-11 at the half.

The Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans defeated the Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 96-85 as Ryan Richard scored 30, Brad Cross 27 and player of the game Greg Close 11. Dennis MacLean paced the Crusaders with 25. Mike Connolly added 20. The Trojans led 38-35 at the half. The Crusaders (coached by Dennis Rollins) also included Tom Seamans, Matt McCully, Allen Furlong, David Dunston, Matt Ross, Mike Benjamin, Drew Palmer, David LeBlanc, Mark Munro, Andrew Hopeson.

The Moncton Purple Knights clipped the Saint John Simonds Seabees 105-58 as Andrew Burgess scored 32 and Bob Duplain 25. Mike Buchanan led the Seabees with 16. Jeff Morris added 15. The Seabees (coached by Gary Naves) also included Brandon Thompson, Jeff Thomas, Ryan Buchanan, Matt Creamer, Danny Smith, Brian Cogswell, Scott Borden, Richard Naves, Joe Dow, James Craig and Graham Anderson.

In the last quarterfinal, the Saint John St. Malachy’s Saints dispatched the Riverview Royals 77-67 as Ryan Graham scored 29, Colin Furness 15 and Kelvin Rice 14. Dan White led the Royals with 30. Josh Prescott added 14. The Saints hit 11 treys, including six by Graham and five by Furness. The Royals also included Eric Hopper, Jeff Archibald.

In the semis (and regional finals), the Fredericton High Black Kats thumped the Moncton Harrison Trimble Trojans 78-67 as Gabe Hanselpacker scored 22 and Mike Pitt 18. Jeff Wallace and Greg Close both had 18-point efforts for the Trojans.

In the other semi, the Moncton Purple Knights thrashed the Saint John St. Malachy’s Saints 81-61 as Rob Pelkey scored 27, Bob Duplain 23 and Andrew Burgess 18. Ryan Graham scored 26 points and Matt Bentley added 16 for the Saints, who trailed 42-29 at the intermission.

        In the final, the Fredericton Black Kats defeated the Moncton Purple Knights 81-69 to win their eighth title since the final 12 structure was adopted in 1987. Fredericton’s one-two all-star punch of Dan Goggin and Gabe Hanselpacker countered the efforts of Moncton’s Rob Pelkey. Goggin scored 25 and dished 5 assists, while Hanselpacker scored 22 and nabbed 9 boards for the Purple Knights. Point guard Goggin also collected 4 boards, 4 steals. Pelkey scored 33 for Moncton, along with 3 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal. Denis Duquette added 15 dished 7 assists for the Purple Knights. Mike Pitt was the other Black Kat to hit double figures, with 12. It also marked the third time in Final 12 history that both the Black Kat men and women swept the titles in consecutive seasons. The Black Kats needed 11 minutes to get going before ending the first half on a 20-11 run for a 39-30 advantage. Then in the first 4:20 of the second half, Goggin scored three buckets and Hanselpacker hit a pair of jumpers as the Kats jumped ahead 51-33 and romped. Moncton cut the deficit to nine on a free throw by Duquette with 8:36 left but never got any closer. Doug Thompson scored 8 and dished 7 assists for the Kats while Dylan Lisson scored 7. Andrew Burgess and Bob DuPlain scored 6 each for the Purple Knights.
