In the quarterfinals, held in Carman for schools with an enrolment under 125, the St. Laurent Hawks nipped the Elm Creek Cobras 59-51 as Vanessa Boudreau scored 25. Candice Dreidger led Elm Creek with 13. The Cobras (coached by James Ballantyne) also included Amber St. Goddard, Barbara Scott, Holly Schroeder, Jenessa Banman, Jodi Schmidt, Kristi Enns, Annika Stuft, Kelly Savage and Jaclyn Schmidt.
The Glenboro Panthers stomped the Wabowden Mel Johnson Eagles 82-25 as Michelle Humber scored 22. Megan McIvor led Mel Johnson with 16. The Grandview Spartans defeated the Sprague Ross L. Gray Raiders 40-31 as Rhianna Morin scored 15. Tiffany Rozsa led Ross L. Gray with 11. In the other semi, the Strathclair Skyhawks dumped the Grandview Spartans 49-24 as Kaitlin Robertson scored 23. Ashley Sidlar led Grandview with 10.
In the bronze medal match, the Grandview Spartans clipped the St. Laurent Hawks 56-36 as Ashley Sidlar scored 21. Vanessa Boudreau led St. Laurent with 18. The Hawks (coached by Dawn-Rae Gray, assisted by Ryan Bruce) also included Darlene Abraham, Jessica Coutu, Kelita Procter, Aime Coutu, Nicole Hegele, Tiffany Allard, Janelle Carriere, Jennifer Lavallee, Andrea Gareau, Renee Gareau and Amanda Coutu.
In the final, the Glenboro Panthers defeated the Strathclair Skyhawks 54-41 as Michelle Huber scored 24. Chelsey Kretai led Strathclair with 15. “They kind of pulled together, played tough defence and were patient on offence,” Glenboro coach Sharon Prost told the Brandon Sun. “They looked for the good shots and down the stretch they just put it all together.” The score was knotted at 39 with seven minutes to play but the Panthers closed out the match with a 15-2 run.
