The New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Associations defaulted from the playdowns “on account of financial difficulties in bringing teams from Ontario or Quebec to the Maritimes,” CABA announced. The Maritime finalists were Acadia University and Saint John YMCA.
In the Maritime finals, according to Canadian Press, Saint John YMCA defeated Acadia University by default after the Axemen said they could not afford to participate in the dominion playoffs. Saint John Y was the only senior team in New Brunswick, so they essentially earned a berth in the national playoffs without playing a game. According to the Montreal Gazette, Acadia won by default over Saint John and then defaulted to Montreal.

In game one, the Maple Leafs superior height (an average 2 inches) and transition game proved the difference in a 33-26 win. They built a 19-11 lead at the half and staved off a final rally as Montreal trimmed the margin to one. Centre Joe Ross, captain and acting manager, returned the floor and hit a bucket to extend Vancouver’s lead to 24-21. Rann Matthison added another hoop as Vancouver pulled away. Art Willoughby paced the Maple Leafs with 9. Jim Bardsley added 6, Ralph Henderson 5, Joe Ross 4, Rann Mathison 4, A Watson 3, Al Beaton 2 and Milt Parsons 1. Joe Richman paced Montreal with 8.
