In the quarterfinals, held in Gimli, the top-seeded Neepawa Tigers defeated the 8th-seeded Gimli Lakers 104-25.
The 3rd-seeded Teulon Saints dispatched the 6th-seeded Norway House Cougars 55-48.
The 5th-seeded Winnipeg Springs Christian Eagles clipped the 4th-seeded Birtle Falcons 50-38. The Falcons (coached by Alan Wilson) included Tessa Chartier, Jaime Lee, Caitlin Pringle, Elizabeth Lelond, Candace Dupont, Haley Butcher, Michelle Chartier, Alissa Finch, Paige Snow, Robyn Hickman, Annette Huberdean and Cortney Howard.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Morden Mohawks clubbed the 7th-seeded Forrest Elton Sabres 56-23.
In the semis, the top-seeded Neepawa Tigers defeated the 5th-seeded Winnipeg Springs Christian Eagles 54-44.
In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Morden Mohawks defeated the 3rd-seeded Teulon Saints 51-34.
In the bronze medal match, the 5th-seeded Winnipeg Springs Christian Eagles crushed the 3rd-seeded Teulon Saints 52-27. The Saints (coached by Curtis Benzick, assisted by Mark Thompson) included Tara Olson, Kristjana Cameron, Nicole Willis, Julie Sandison, Jessie Cameron, Kristine Campbell, Victoria Stone and Melissa Stone.
In the final, the top-seeded Neepawa Tigers defeated the 2nd-seeded Morden Mohawks 59-46. “Becky O’Donnell was hurt in the first game and didn’t play in the semi-final and Jody Jury sprained her ankle in the fourth quarter of the semi-final game, but a good tape job and a strong desire to compete got her through the final game,” Tigers coach Kerri Hayhurst told the Neepawa Banner. “Otherwise, everything went right as everyone did what was required to win under pressure with a determined effort and classy ehavior on and off the court.” Tanja Jarvis noted that “our team played probably our best that we’ve ever had throughout our whole season. We had our ups and downs throughout our whole season and in the finals, pretty much our whole starting lineup had an injury and we were still playing. We really brought it together this weekend and we pretty much played our ultimate best that we’ve ever had. So we were quite happy with ourselves.”
