The Wildcats led 14-12 after one quarter but trailed 30-16 at the half. They shifted to a full-court press and rallied to knot the score at 48 after regulation. Lynda Schott paced the Wildcats with 23. Cathy Holtmann added 20, Michelle Boulet 3 and Selina Pchajek 2.
In the final, the 2nd-seeded Killarney Raiders nipped the top-seeded Hamiota Huskies 57-55 as Wendy Johnson hit the winning bucket with one second left on the clock. With the game tied at 55, the Raiders held the ball for the final two minutes of play until Johnson’s shot. Donalda Neault led Killarney with 15 points. Susan Mauthe added 14 and Kate Woods 12. Hamiota star Beth Cochran tossed in 36 but was held to 10 points in the second half. The Raiders rallied from a seven-point deficit with five minutes to play. “We’ve been trying to win this for 11 years,” said coach Ray Kurd, “so it sure feels nice.”
