The top-seeded Boissevain Broncos crushed the 10th-seeded Russell Major Pratt Trojans 74-33 as Colleen Tweeney scored 19. Bernice Bowley led the Trojans with 11. The Trojans (then the Trojets) were coached by Ed Thom.
The 4th-seeded Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals whipped the 7th-seeded Dauphin Clippers 73-55 as Jill Goodbrandson scored 18 and Allison Blaeker 18. Judy Baltus led the Clippers with 16. Clippers coach Tom MacNair attributed the loss to a third-quarter lapse, in which they repeatedly coughed up the ball or travelled. In the other semi, the Boissevain Broncos defeated the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Royals 71-67 as Marie Rohleder scored 25. Jill Goodbrandson led the Royals with 31.
In the bronze medal match, the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals clipped the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kweens 64-55 as Jill Goodbrandson scored 22. The Royals led 27-24 at the half. Dawn Redahl led the Kopper Kweens with 19. The Kopper Kweens also included Colleen Kennedy.
In the final, the Winnipeg Westgate Mennonite Wings defeated the Boissevain Broncos 56-53 in overtime as Gail Voth scored 21 and Heidi Neufeld 19. Lana Chambers led Boissevain with 17. Grade nine student Marie Rohleder added 15, including 11 in the final quarter. Boissevain appeared in control for most of the match, until post Barb Rohleder ran into foul trouble down the stretch. The Broncos led 17-9 after one quarter, 24-21 at the half and by nine after three quarters. Westgate forced overtime on a putback rebound by Heidi Neufeld with 12 seconds to play to knot the score at 48. Voth hit two free throws with a minute and a half to play to give Westgate the lead. Marie Rohleder answered with 1 of 2 from the line and then Voth added a bucket with 40 seconds remaining to ice the win. Chambers missed a jumper with 15 seconds to play.
