In the interzone playoffs, the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers defeated the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans x-x.
In the wildcard game, the Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans whipped the Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 49-23.
In the quarterfinals, held in Winnipeg, the 5th-seeded Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints stunned the 4th-seeded Winnipeg Jeanne Sauve Olympiennes 43-38. The Olympiennes included Erin O’Neil.
The top-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs toppled the 8th-seeded Brandon T.A. Neelin Spartans 64-43.
The 2nd-seeded Winnipeg St. Mary’s Academy Flames smacked the 7th-seeded Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 67-30.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg Louis Riel Voyageurs clipped the 6th-seeded Swan River Swan Valley Tigers 72-59. Cheryl Brandson led the Tigers with 16, including 4 treys. The Tigers (coached by Ken McClintock) also included Judy Sakal, Jannelle Taylor, Kim Yaschyshyn, Erin Kirkpatrick, Pam Barkowski, Jodi Ellingson, Marisa Whyte, Jennifer Church and Pat Barkowski.
In the semis, the top-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs edged the 5th-seeded Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints 44-34.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg Louis Riel Voyageurs stunned the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg St. Mary’s Academy Flames 63-56.
In the bronze medal match, the Winnipeg St. Mary’s Academy Flames crushed the Portage la Prairie Arthur Meighen Saints 72-38.
In the final, the Winkler Garden Valley Kodiaks defeated the 3rd-seeded Winnipeg College Louis Riel Voyageurs 55-52. “I think (Winkler’s) success really has a lot to do with the devotion and dedication of the students,” Kodiaks coach David Boyes told the Winnipeg Free Press. “And the sacrifice and hard work the kids display is a direct reflection of the community’s Christian faith as a whole.” The Zodiacs led 30-21 at the half and appeared to let down in the second half. “We didn’t let down as much as they got hot,” said Boyes.”0ur game plan was to try and limit the output of Lynette Lafreniere but we didn’t expect the rest of their perimeter shooters to step up and play as well as they did.” Michelle Dyck paced the Zodiacs with 23. Lafreniere paced the Voyageurs with 24.
