In the final, the top-seeded Winnipeg Sisler Spartans stomped the 2nd-seeded Winnipeg Oak Park Raiders 83-51 after leading 17-3, 43-12 and 65-38 at the quarters and forcing an unbelievable 44 turnovers. After missing the 2014 final because she was attending the Canadian under-17 trying out camp, Kyanna Pingue-Giles said the Spartans were determined to collect a title. “We were hungry,” Pingue-Giles told the Winnipeg Sun. “This is the game we wanted. We wanted to come back to the provincial finals and just win it all. We were very hungry this year. … It was very weird. I was in my hotel room watching the game. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I guess we redeemed ourselves this year, so I’m proud of my team.” Spartans coach Michael Tan noted that “we’re blessed to have the talent that we have at Sisler, and utilizing their athletic ability has been key in making sure we’re not playing just any kind of basketball. It’s a style that’s all our own. We really embraced the in-your-face style and capitalized on forcing teams to make mistakes.” Kyia Pingue-Giles said the Spartans did a great job of containing Raiders star Jordan Tully. “Defence made our team special. We’re very short, but we’re very aggressive on the ball. We like to get every ball. We’re very scrappy.” The Spartans finished 33-1 on the campaign.
