The Winnipeg St. James Jimmies edged the Rivers Brooke Ramettes 25-24 after leading 15-10 at the half and 21-14 after three quarters. Judy Roberts paced the Jimmies with 8. Carol Johnson led Brooke with 11. The Ramettes also included Janice Johnson, Judy Shaw.
The Portage la Prairie Pats clubbed the Altoona W.C. Miller Acettes 54-29 as Dorothy Prior scored 23, Judy Preston 13 and Gerry Isaacs 13. Esther Toews paced the Aces with 8. Muriel Furibe added 8.
In the last quarterfinal, the Winnipeg Gordon Bell Panthers clocked the Dauphin Clippers 30-18 as Pat Pisnook scored 11. Judy Marley added 6. Amy Brown led the Clippers with 4. The Clippers also included Eleanor Dicks, Jill Love.
In the semis, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kweens whipped the Winnipeg St. James Jimmies 47-32 as Sharon Hopkinson scored 18 and Barbara Davidson 15. Maureen Kennedy led the Jimmies with 11.
In the other semi, the Winnipeg Gordon Bell Panthers edged the Portage La Prairie Trotters 33-32 after leading 23-13 at the half. Pat Pisnook paced the Panthers with 9. Dorothy Prior led the Pats with 26.
In the final, the Flin Flon Hapnot Kopper Kweens edged the Winnipeg Gordon Bell Panthers 28-27 on a last second runout bucket by Sharon Hopkinson off a steal of the ball from Carol Pisnook. Paced by Barbara Davidson, Merle Duncan and Beverley Tarres, the Kopper Kweens captured their sixth title in nine years. Flin Flon was ahead 19-12 in the first half but were outscored 10-5 in the third quarter. With four minutes to go, the Panthers had tied the score at 26. With one minute to go, a Carol Pisnook free throw put Gordon Bell ahead by one but Hopkinson stole the ball and raced for the winning lay-up. Barbara Davidson scored 9 for Flin Flon while Merle Duncan added 7. Winnipeg Gordon Bell was led by Carol Pisnookâs 12 points. Pat Pisnook added 7. Pisnook and Judy Marley each saw shots spin off the rim in the final minute.
