        In the quarterfinals, held in Treherne, the top-seeded Landmark 96ers thrashed the 8th-seeded Fisher Branch Cougars 81-36 as Gilbert Penner scored 34. “We had an off game,” Cougars coach Jay Krawchuk told the Interlake Spectator. The Cougars (coached by Jay Krawchuk and Clayton Johnson) included Ryan Stodgell, Collin Vandersteen, Jonathan Talbert, David Holowka, Joey Cote, Marcel Bernier, Colin Pengelly and Thang Nguyen.

        The 3rd-seeded Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs defeated the 6th-seeded Deloraine Colts 76-70.

        In the last quarterfinal, the 4th-seeded Rossburn Raiders defeated the 5th-seeded Grand Rapids Wolverines 74-53.

        In the semis, the top-seeded Landmark 96ers edged the Rossburn Raiders 72-66 as Gilbert Penner scored 25.

        In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Treherne Tigers defeated the Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs 70-47.

        In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Dauphin Western Christian Mustangs nipped the 4th-seeded Rossburn Raiders 77-75. The Mustangs trailed by 14 with 3:51 to play but stormed back to pull out the win. Tim McMillan and Brian Cox each scored 17 to pace the Mustangs. The Raiders (coached by Steve Sullivan) included Mark Charney, Ashley Swereda, Chris Kostesky, Scott Kostecki, Jaret Saley, Derek Lepischak, Robert Maxwell, Ron Hrycak, Shawn Hersack and Dynel Trakalo.

In the final, the top-seeded Landmark 96’ers defeated the Treherne Tigers 59-50 as Gilbert Penner scored 24. The Tigers led 43-39 after three quarters but got into foul trouble, allowing the 96ers pulled out the win at the free throw line. Penner “was clearly head and shoulders above everyone else at the tournament,” said 96ers coach Al Thiessen. Penner was also MVP of the provincial volleyball championships, where the 96ers finished second.
