The 4th-seeded Steinbach Sabres defeated the 5th-seeded Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs 74-57.
The top-seeded Killarney Raiders edged the 8th-seeded The Pas Spartans 75-72.
In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Russell Major Pratt Trojans clipped the 7th-seeded Winnipeg St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles 97-75. The Eagles (coach Mr. Northcott, manager Kelly Kelner) included Richard Nairn, John Corona, Fareed Ali, Janson Lo, Herman Lau, Simon Cotton, Hugh Harley, Mark Chow, Dan Gunn, Henry Friesen, Victor Castelli and John Diamond.
In the semis, the top-seeded Killarney Raiders defeated the 4th-seeded Steinbach Sabres 83-66.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Stonewall Rams edged the 2nd-seeded Russell Major Pratt Trojans 76-74 in overtime. The Rams led 20-17 after one quarter. The Trojans led 39-35 at the half. The score was knotted at 49 after three quarters and at 73 after regulation. The Trojans finished (28-10) on the season.
In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Steinbach Sabres dumped the 2nd-seeded Russell Major Pratt Trojans 87-73 as Tim Farrell scored 31. The Trojans (coached by Clinton Bezan) included Murray Miller, Mike Boychuk, Warren Bezan, Darcy Kowalchuk, Jamie Betke, John Moran, Brad Nernberg, Scott Nernberg, Curtis Boscher, Carsten Hanebaum, Dallas Ferguson and Darin Zimmer.
In the final, the 3rd-seeded Stonewall Rams defeated the top-seeded Killarney Raiders 63-55 as Rod Cornenki, Corbett Marek and Everett Conrad each scored 20. Wilf Rupp paced the Raiders with 23. Chris Hicks added 16. “They were a really big team,” Raiders coach Bruce Lyons told the Brandon Sun. “And we had a terrible shooting game.”
