In the interzone playoff, the Dauphin Clippers defeated the Russell Trojans 57-29 as Trent Lintick scored 15, Gordon Fidierchuk 13 and Pat Hogan 8.

        In the quarterfinals, held in Brandon, the Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans dumped the Minnedosa Chancellors 63-38 as Brian Hyska scored 15 and Bruce Perreault 13. The Trojans led 31-23 at the half. Bob Allison paced the Chancellors with 12. Gary Sweeting added 10. The Chancellors also included Mark Hutton, John Montieth, Byron Matheson.

        The Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs clipped the Gimli Lakers 43-32 as Len Gerbrandt scored 8 and Paul Stobbe 8. The Zodiacs led 25-15 at the half. Richard Waller led the Lakers with 14. The Lakers also included Rick Bahniuk, Brian Gottfried, Douglas Prise, Wes Alleyne, Calvin Chudd, Lorne Harasym, Lawrence Anderson, Barry Penziwol, Don Bilinski.

        The Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals defeated the Souris Sabres 54-41 as Rick Fewchuk and Brian Kowalchuk each scored 15. Randy Davidson led the Sabres with 16. The Sabres led 23-19 at the half. The Sabres (coached by Don McKenzie) also included Garth Johnson, Glen Brown, Alex Mills, T Couvier.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Brandon Vincent Massey Vikings dumped the Dauphin Clippers 70-44 as Max Clark scored 18 and Murray Lindenberg 16. “Those are fun games to win but you’re always scared of someone getting hurt,” Vikings coach Aubrey Ferris told the Brandon Sun. “We wanted to decide things early and the (full-court) press did it for us.” Pat Hogan led the Clippers with 14. Trent Lintick added 13. The Clippers (coached by Larry McDougall) also included Gord Fidierchuk, Harold Wellborn, Bob Stitt, Bruce McDonald, Darell Drebnisky, Lloyd Hill, Brent Gingere, Tom Draper, Rod Hrechka and John Ochitwa.

        In the semis, the Brandon Vincent Massey Vikings clocked the Winkler Garden Valley Zodiacs 56-28 after leading 20-4 after one quarter and 32-15 at the half. Max Clark paced the Vikings with 22. Murray Lindenberg added 18. Randy Goosen led the Zodiacs with 12.

        In the other semi, the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals dispatched the Thompson R.D. Parker Trojans 67-63 as Brian Kowalchuk scored 22. Rick Fewchuk added 18. The Royals led 35-32 at the half. Len Roche and Bruce Perreault each scored 17 to pace the Trojans.

        In the final, the Brandon Vincent Massey Vikings defeated the Selkirk Lord Selkirk Regional Royals 57-32 as Murray Lindenberg scored 20, Max Clark 18, Rob Kendel 6 and Don Jackson 6. “We actually blew them out of the court. We held a 28-12 lead at the half, outscoring them 15-4 in the second quarter. That second quarter was what won it for us,” Vikings coach Aubrey Ferris told the Brandon Sun. “In the first quarter we weren’t making the pass into the post, but Max started to do it in the second quarter,” said Ferris. “When we got the ball into the post man (Rob Kendel) their zone would collapse around him. And then he’d pop it out to Clark, and bingo!” Brian Kowalchuk paced the Royals with 10. Bruce McMillan added 6 and Rick Fewchuk 6. Ferris said he was “surprised by the big score we won by. Our goal was to win the Provincial ‘B.’ and be competitive at the Provincal ‘A’.”
