In the wildcard game, the University of Winnipeg Collegiate Wesmen dusted the Swan River Swan Valley Tigers 89-70. “We had not played them nor did we have the chance to see them at any of the tournaments we attended this year,” Tigers coach Kevin Carter told the Swan Valley Star and Times. “But the same could be said about their familiarity with us. … We were playing well enough to create opportunities. “But we were not hitting shots that we have all year and had a hard time getting into a groove.” The Wesmen led by as many as 23. “This was certainly not a position we have been in at any time or any game all year,” said Carter. “It was a hole too deep to dig out of and although we tried to get something going, we could not get any runs or get the opposition on their heels. … It was a tough ending to swallow for us as a team as we had hopes of making a run at a provincial title this year, but we fell short of that goal.” The Tigers (coached by Carter, assisted by Ryan Maksymchuk, Ian Kitch, Brendan Fedorchuk and Ryley Rivett) included David Muller, Tre Fleury, Riley Munro, Eric Galaschuk, Quinn Kematch, Nick Watson.
